One of the many benefits of singing and playing music together with your child(ren) is that it’s a perfect way to teach them about cause and effect.

Without you having to explain a word, through singing and playing, they will learn that shaking the maraca at a fast pace will produce a different sound than moving it more slowly; and, that hitting the drum harder will make a louder sound than if they hit it softly.

You can also ask them to make loud music or soft music, or to play slow or fast, etc. Questions like these help them make the connection between the concepts they are learning and the words attached to them.
